Are you referring to the drive in the back of the block that allows the oil pump to be driven by the camshaft?

The drive itself is fastened with a bolt in the lifter valley. If you are replacing the entire assembly, you would simply remove the bolt, remove the assembly and install the new one. If you are merely replacing the gear: remove the assembly, remove the small roll pin that retains the gear with a small punch and reinstall the new gear on the assembly. I had to replace the gear on my previous LT1. I bought a regular distributor gear for a 92 TPI engine to be sure the gear would be compatible with a roller cam.
