Water Pump wiring help

Just got my CSI pump today. The pump only has two wires of course (pwr/gnd).

Anyway, I bought a relay harness from a local shop today. The label says "fan relay harness", but the guy that sold it to me also built that harness, and he says it has all the necessary wires to do the water pump with.

So I got this relay harness. Out of the relay comes 5 wires. Two of the wires (white) come out of one point (split). Then one red, one purple, and one blue. The blue wire and the split white wires are 14 gauge. The purple and red wires are 12 gauge, which I'm assuming they're power/ground. Red IS power, because it's got a resettable circuit breaker on it.

Any wiring guru's able to take a crack at this?

I would most definitely call the guy and ask him which is what!..
That being said.. you need 2 wires to the relay coil[probably the lighter ones] one a ground and one a 12v +...
I would say the heavier wires are the 'load' wires.. and that will go in LINE with the 12v+ of the WP[not - +]circuit breaker on the 12v + 'source' side of the relay..

MY GUESS[remember GUESS!]:
Red= 12v+source[from source to relay, for the pump]
Purple= 12v+ from relay to pump
Blue= relay 'coil' trigger wire
Whites =ground
But do it right call the guy and ask[didn't it come with a label or instruction sheet?]

Well, yeah it did come with an instruction sheet, but it's mainly for wiring up fans. I don't know wiring schematics well enough to figure it out for myself.

I think you're right though. I'm going there tomorrow and bringing the harness and the pump with me so we can identify and tag all the wires and wiring points. He said to wire the relay off of the ignition coil power, that way the pump comes on when the key is on.

I CAN splice, crimp, and solder just fine. Just show me the way...

Just a thought
Most relays have the terminals marked and it's standard..
That schematic link above has the numbers [86, 87 etc] of the relay on it.. if you can match that up you should be OK..

Basic 'relay' configuration is 2 terminals for the relay 'coil' [one 12v pos, one 12v neg] that when energized, electromagnetically pulls the switch points open or closed...
Then there are 3 more terminals that are a 'common', then one NO[normally open] and one NC[normally closed] terminal
You generally use either the common and NO[for when you want the relay to CLOSE [turn on/make contact] the switch]
Or common and NC[when you want the relay to OPEN [turn off/break contacts]the switch..
Maybe that helps some

If you want a perfect relay to use for the water pump, pull out your fog light relay and get one to match from any auto parts store. That way, you use standard parts that can be replaced quickly and easily if needed. The fog light relay cost me $20. It has spade-type terminals on it, which makes it really easy to connect. It even has a wiring diagram molded into the side, so you know how to connect it.

So which wire is the power wire on the pump? Blue or black? I'm assuming black, but there is no identification on the pump or wires, instructions suck too.

I studied a guy's website on installing a CSI pump tonight, and I'm pretty sure I've got the wiring figured out, just need to know which one is power.

guess I'll give CSI a call tomorrow...

Black goes go ground. Blue goes to 87 on the relay. That's how I wired my Meziere.

Looking at the impeller on the pump, tewst it and make sure that it runs CLOCKWISE when powered up[should be blue 12v+ and black to ground tho]
DC motors you reverse polarity to reverse direction, so be careful..
Backwards= not good..

Got it. Went and talked to the guy today and he pointed out where everything goes.

Now I just need the time to dive in and get it done.
