Water pump shaft seal

If this seal leaks it would be leaking oil not coolant - correct?

Re: Water pump shaft seal

I thought so since the pump is cam driven - just another place to investigate for the mysterious occasional drip (hard to see in that area!)
Thanks again.

It is hard to see in that area, but a leak there can put out a lot of oil.

I'm leaking a qt. of oil a week, is that a lot should I replace that seal? I think so! Is it hard to do so would be my question, can I do it without a lift?

Yes you just remove the waterpump and replace the seal.
