Water pump flow direction

Im in the process of building a remote mount water pump and I need to see if anyone can tell me what are the flow parameters and directions of the stock lt1 water pump. Thanks.

Water feeds in the center and is flung outward toward all the ports.

What about the pump itself? Seems like the top two ports should be for cool water in and the botttom should be hot water out to the radiator.

I'm not sure what you're talking about so bear with me. On the mounting face of the pump are 4 ports in two housings. The upper one on each side feeds cooled water into the engine to cool the heads first, the the block. The bottom port on each housing returns the heated water to the pump.

On the outside of the pump, the large hose connection, top right is cooled water in from the radiator, the housing with the thermostat is heated water out to the radiator.
The two smaller hose connection on the left side are for the heater. When I say right and left I mean looking at the pump, not installed.

My car has an oil cooler and has a small hose connection on the lower right side. you may or may not have that depending on your options.

That's backwards, bw. The thermostat housing is cooled water in from the radiator.

Myextreme1, the diagrams I posted show all the flow in/out of the pump.

This flow the same for the LT4 motor? I'm assuming it is that the reverse flow was the change in '95 and up..or maybe I'm thinking of something else.

Having overheating problems and the hose going from the left side is completely collasped...like the wp is sucking it collapsed because the thermostat is not opening.

LT4 and LT1 use the same water pump and cooling system.

All years of the LT1 feature "reverse flow" cooling. Nothing was changed in 95
