Water in my engine! Help!
Water in my engine! Help!
The other day we had a huge rainstorm. I tried to drive through a deep puddle and as I started through the intersection my car died. I found out that my K&N CAI sat low enough that it sucked a bunch of water into my engine. I pulled all the plugs and cranked it over and blew water out each cylinder, lots of water. I replaced the plugs and started it up. It chugged a little and had a hard time staying running. I kept it idled at 1500 rpm for awhile and took it for a drive. I found out as I would come to a stop and push my clutch in, the rpms would drop drastically and the car would die 95% of the time. If it doesn't die, it drops to 300 rpm and bounces between 300 and 500. Normally my car idles at 800-1000. However, while driving, there doesn't seem to be any indication there is anything wrong. The car performs normally until I come to a stop. Any ideas what else could be wrong? I drive a 93 z28. Also, there are no codes present. Thanks for the help.

The first thing i think of when an engine sucks up water is bent rods. But since it's just acting strange at idle maybe you got lucky and only screwed up the optispark.

Please tell me you changed the oil? I am pretty sure some of that water seped into the oil pan.
And how long has it been dried out for, i think it will get better as it dries out, you might have to change the plugs again tho
