OK car wont start, hasnt in 6 months. Im just now worrying about it..SEpt 1st it died on me and sputtered out and hasnt started since. We determined its a fuel problem; the car has a ton of spark. The fuel pump is brand new and still makes the swishing sound. After compressing the schrader valve its been determined that its just air coming out not fuel. So it possibly there is a kink in a line? Something is clogged? The fuel filter is new pretty much but Ill be replacing it anyways. Now the gas has been sittin in the car for months but I have put in some winter additive. Tomorrow Im gonna get my lazy butt to it and put in some fresh gas and slap on a new filter and see what happens. I know this seems more like a story than question but experienced ones, what is going on with my fuel system??

 

Buy yourself a fuel pressure guage. Even if the pump is operating or at least making noise doesn't mean you are getting adequate fuel pressure.
Mine did the same thing. I could hear the pump, pushed the schrader valve in, fuel squirted out along with air and my guage read a big fat ZERO. After purging the system of air I got it up to 20psi, but the engine would not run normally. I have yet to check voltage to make sure the pump is getting the correct voltage, but me thinks the fuel pump is bad.
