want to switch to afr heads? stroker

building a 383 or 396 stroker...have le1 heads. those will restrict my potential right? what afr head to i need to get? i still want to use my stock lt1 intake manifold. what are the different series afr head, and what would work for me,,,my le1 heads peak around 271-274 on the intake side. and where can i get them and for how much$ ? i don't know alot about afr's products...or should i just stick with my le1 heads? money IS a concern also.
thanks
also, whatever i get, i do not want to have ported...so if its better i'll just stay with le1's....

If you sell your LE1 heads and cam i would be very interested. I just emailed LE about this today. Please shoot me a PM if you do so.

Those heads are capable of 550FWHP everything else being correct. It will take a very large cam and a intake system to flow with the heads. AFR 227 fully ported by a good head man not AFR, will make 650+ everything else being correct.

If you are going to want to see a large gain over what you have, I would say that you're going to need to go a full port lt1 or an lt4 setup. Not sure what the 195s put down, but I would say its probably not gonna be worth the money. my .02

Yeah, unless you are wanting to step up and get the AFR 210's, 220's or 227's and use a LT4 intake, I don't think that it is worth the cash. A lot of people have VERY good results with ported stock heads. A good friend of mine has a 94 Z with a solid roller 396 LT1 that uses ported stock casting heads and LT1 intake to run 10.80s on motor. They are better than what you think. I think it just depends on how much extra money you want to spend.

I have never seen or heard of le1 heads producing 550fwhp or afrs producing 650+, unless you're thinking solid roller cams with 280ish duration. To get those heads to flow that much air is impossible on even the most aggressive streetable combinations.
