Want to be atleast in the 13's need help

Alright I own a 94z28 automatic with 90,000 miles on it runs real strong last owner was some old guy in my town always took real good care of her anyway. What bolt ons should i do to hit this goal and still look like a sleeper car. I was thinking air intake, some long tube headers b/c correct me if im wrong i can bolt them up to the original catback?? 1.6rr's and how much does it cost to have those installed?? What else will I need??

In my 95 M6 i hit 13's with intake, headers, and a cutout. I ran a 13.6. I was probably in the 13's after just the intake and cutout. But since yours has more miles and is an A4 i would say probably intake and full exaust will get you in the 13's with a decent 60ft. Some gears may help too because you either have 2.73's or 3.23's. Either one could be improved on easily. Hope this helps.

LT headers won't hook up to the catback with out a y pipe if you want a true bolt on you would have to with shorties. I would say CAI, and a stall would get 13's headers and catback and gears would be close to 12's depending on how big of a stall

You dont need to touch the valve covers to run 13s.

Heres what you need for low 13s

Basics Find a used Cold Air Intake if you can, then maybe get a cat back. These two alone help out, both combined can get you in to the mid to high 13s on a good cold night with traction.

headers Long Tubes are great, good solid gains. Just not smog leal. For 13s a set of shorties should be fine. they come with a y pipe and all emsions fitting.

Vigi Torque Converter dont get one now unless your trans has been rebuilt, other wise just wait till it goes and then put the converter in. On a good healthy car its worth .4-5 tenths off your 1/4.

Suspension Find a used set of aftermarket Lower Control Arms and a Panhard bar.

All the stuff above should put you in the very low 13s, if not high 12s with traction. But if your set on just 13s, a set of headers, cat back, cold air should do it.

Make it easy on yourself. Get a set of Drag Radials and press the accelerator down. Then you have your 13's. Practice your launching and you shouldn't have any problem. But I would get an exhaust just for the great V8 sound and a CAI just because its performance gain is a great improvement. Drag Radials will run you about $300.

like thebeast said, simple traction will get you 13's. Some of the things people are mentioning on here would almost net you 12's

If you don't want to worry about traction, and you want to go cheap, pick up some shortiy headers and a decent catback (used it possible for both), and make your own CAI out of PVC pipe (do a search). When you install those, change plugs/wires/O2 sensors and you should be well in the 13's with less than $800 invested (including all the nitpicky stuff)

Thumbs up

Get a stall. Even if you never use the car for track use. The stall was the last mod I did to my car. I really wish it would have been the first..

Trust me. It is badass

id say get a 2800 or a 3200 stall and some gears or a cai. i ran a 14.012 tonite on a cold slick track spinning all thru 1st gear. just cut a good light and a good 60ft and you could prolly get a 13.8XX.

See my sig. for times and mods. My friend ran the 13.6 @ 100 with the stall... and a little tire spin. He knows how to drive. He thinks it'll do a 13.4 with a perfect launch.

HEADERS? Don't tell my 12.82 second '93 Z that it shouldn't run that good with exhaust manifolds...LOL
OK, so maybe my car is a freak. I went 13.47 before the stall, and 4.10 gears.
Traction! You'll need it. My Nitto Drag radials went a 1.90 60Ft. with my old 2500 stall converter. My 60 Ft. with the ET Streets, and 3200 stall are in the mid 1.70 range.
All the other mods are listed in the sig.
