I am running the stock radiator...water temps ok, not optimal...had to go with a turn one ps pump, as the stock pump burned up twice, even after a ps cooler.
I should get a bigger radiator, and an oil cooler...oil has to be up around 300, ignorance is bliss without a gauge.

Tim,

Throw a Canton pan on there with a M55A pump and the right pickup (20-010 I think) and you will be fine in terms of oil control. Just as long as you run synthetic the motor will be happy for a while. A Accusump, a built 355 bottom end with scrapers and a contoured crank would help to but wait till something happens before you do that!

Good to see another customers road race videos! Now all I need is my new Klipsch so I can hear that puppy!

Awesome vid ...

Just curious, how many miles are on your car?

Very cool vid. Exhaust sounds sweet on it.

Cant wait to see more vids like this ... Especially if you get new tires lol.

Re: Video LE2 z28 on road course

Thanks Brett, will look into that.

Car has about 65k miles on it, it's a 95. I bought the car new.

Now I need to get some more weight out of the car. Weighs 3400 with full tank of gas. Interior is stripped out, but still has full dash etc. Thinking about removing air bags and air conditioning next. Beyond that, don't see that much I'd want to remove.

Glad everyone enjoyed the vid. I posted it here since I figured most people here were into drag racing, these cars make great road racing cars too! With some mods, they can get the job done.

My suspension is ground control coil over/with koni single adjustable shocks, aircraft bearings replaced soft bushing material, and global west control arms. This is necessary up front to get enough negative camber (about -2 deg.) 17x11 grand sport wheels with kumho 315 race tires.
Brakes are c5 corvette.

Exhaust on the video was open cutout the flowmaster exhaust takes away over 15hp. I think I am going to trash that.

Great video! I've been wanting to give driving something other than straight for 1,320' a try. Where did you get started in road racing, and what all do you have to do to get to run on a track like that (courses, certifications, etc.?)

That was fun! Sounds like the soundtrack from Bullit. After a few more engine mods I think I'd like to do some suspension work and head for Pocono. Thanks for going to the trouble of taping and sharing. Paul

Great stuff, Tim. Makes my mouth water! That track sure has a lot of long sweepers, eh? I think I would like it. Was your car pushing a bit?

Hi Jon,

Sure was...started of with kumho v710's 315's on all corners with lot's of heat cycles...tires were basically shot and the rear tires corded. I had some new v700's so I had them mounted on saturday afternoon and stuck them on the front. Great grip in front, but the car was really loose, so I thought that was not a good idea. I put them on the rear, and put some v710's that were 275's with less wear on the front. Result, pushing pretty bad. If I would have had some new 315's on front I could have picked up a couple of seconds at least Just got 4 new discontinued hoosiers from ups, they are still on special with free shipping (about 125 each shipped) Anyway, the long sweepers were painful, and an excersize in patience.

For those who are interested in doing a track day there are a lot of options. Not many camaro or corvette clubs, but you can join pca (porsche) bmwcca, mazda drivers etc. Also there are other non-marque specific groups like nasa, chin, etc. You start off in the beginner group, get an instructor, and progress to the solo groups, and then finally instructor (which is where I am if you are interested in teaching.)

Check out the schedule

Groups I have run with

http://www.nasa-se.com

http://www.chinmotorsports.com

http://www.turnonetrackevents.com/

http://www.svtcobraclub.com/mainpage.html (only one event per year)

there are many out there.

This is cool! I would be very interested in heading up to road atlanta for a chance to run on it one day just because it isn't too far for me.

Re: Video LE2 z28 on road course

Sure the engine wear will come, this car is just a toy for me..I think that if everything works well, and I keep it well maintained it should last. If it blows up tomorrow I can accept that. If you can't, you shouldn't be on track.

Try panoz...they will make you do lead follow the first time...second time you can go out on your own...just try not to hit anything, road atlanta is very unforgiving!
