VERY disappointing dyno results

I got a free dyno pull a few months back and just now got the time to take the car down and test it. Its a 95 a4 with 115k miles, stock except for k&n filter, 3.73, and a Madcatz tune. Numbers came in at 199.6hp @ 5500 rpm and 218.6tq @ 4250. Does that sound right? I thought lt1s make peak torque down low? Also what gear should it have been in? It was in drive. The guy there said the torque numbers might not be right because it broke traction when it shifted. Also hit the rev limiter at 115mph.

You are supposed to be in a certain gear... 3rd I believe. Also if it wasnt a dynojet then the numbers wont be on par with what you are used to seeing as everybody on here anyway only run on dynojets.

Re: VERY disappointing dyno results

I think 300 engine hp less 20% loss for auto is 240 or so rwhp. The mustangs do read lower than dynojets not sure how much but 40 hp might be about right. I would think you have about 300 engine max or maybe only 290 with just a k and n and the gears might also give lower reading. 4.10 for sure make lower readings so would think 3.73 would have an effect.
If you are really worried go find a dynojet. The mustangs are supposed to give truer readings and be better for tuning but everyone does use a dynojet normally.
Sister city just got a new dyno and was all hyped but its a mustang dyno. Now not so hyped.

Re: VERY disappointing dyno results

For a Mustang Dyno I would say the lowest you should see is 220rwhp.

If you are breaking loose on a dyno, they probably didn't hook you up properly. I have 500 lb ft of torque and I don't break the tires loose on the dyno.

Go somewhere else.
