vertical radiator questions

not real sure where to put this, so here it goes. i have a 95 with an lt1. im going to be going with an aftermarket rad anyways, and im thinking why not go for the extra room now anyways, so im just wondering what all is involved to do this. just wanting some pics to. it just seems weird to me to cut that whole piece out, its pretty structural isnt it? just wanting some more into on this mod, thanks guys!!

it took me probably 1.5 hours of cutting. (mainly waiting for my compressor to keep up, and stopping to see where else needed cut). Its really not hard, just requires some common sense and patience to get everything how you want it.

what needs cut on bottom. I cut just above the pinch weld then rolled the remaining lip over with a hammer.

damn, thats exactly what i wanna do. any chance you know the part number for the rad? and where you got it? ive mostly seen guys who cut the entire top away and use like 1/2 by 1/2 bar and weld it in, id rather do exacly what you have done here, also how did you attach it? i havent torn mine apart yet, so i cant really tell what you had to cut away from the bottom. is it just kind of a hole that you had to cut for the rad to sit in? also what fans did you use? thanks for allll the pics man they really helped me to decide, this is deff the way im gonna do it, just got figure out how you mounted it up. thanks man!

Not sure of the dimensions on the radiator there, but I would probably order one with the inlet on the passenger side instead of the driver side. That's just me though.

You'll also need to include somewhere for the steam tube to dump back into the system.

OK... My app... 97ss 383ci LT1 MM6 w/ ATI-D1 blown w/ GZMS Vac pump mod.
Rad... A Summut BeCool stock size rad (larger than the typical Griffin).
Process... Cut top and bottom rad supports. Re-fabbed mounts.
Structure is like a rock. All fab and work my me over a winter.
No removal of the front facia during work.
