I'm going to do a few tests today to make sure it is the opti but the car has 116k miles and I'm pretty sure it's had its time. I'll be doing the switch to the vented opti but every thread I have found links to http://para.noid.org/~muttvette/opti.html which doesn't exist anymore. Does this parts list look okay to you? I'll be ordering from GMpartsdirect.com most likely. I still have my stock cam from my '95 Z so I'll be using that. Anything else I should add to the list? Thanks!

The MDS cap and rotor kit would retrofit your opti to make it vented. Would be a lot cheaper and easier.

 

I've heard good and bad things about this... Since 2005 has there actually been improvements in the design? If so I might just get the cap and rotor, water pump and new opti harness.

 

I would not run the MSD whole opti if it were given too me, the cap and rotor seem to be fine though.
