Exclamation Vented Opti Conversion!!!

Well, my POS non vented opti went out so I decided since I have a vented opti/motor/setup (spare motor) that I would just convert. So far I have noticed the timing covers are diferent but the main thing that concearns me is the cam dowel pin is bigger on the vented opti. Am I going to have to swap the cam ?

Also, I have an electric water pump and my timing chain is loose so I decided to go with one off jegs. "Cloyes Street True Roller Timing Chain Sets - Chevy Small Block, 4.3L V6 w/Factory Roller Cam 1985-Up
Item # 220-9-1145 "

So, what do you guys think? Please help This is my only car

Have you checked out this link? It should answer most of your questions.
You may have to slightly clearance the inside of your timing cover to clear that chain.

This is what I did but I don't know if it is recomended. I used a fine thread die and threaded the dowl pin the put washers behind the nut that fit and screwed the nut on and off adding washers until I had the pin at the corect length. I used JB weld to fill the threads on the pin when I was finished. However I had an LT4 hot cam and it had plenty of dowl to pull. Not sure about the stock cam. Hope this helps.

The pin is pressed in. I would go to a GM dealer and get the longer pin. Maybe someone here knows the part number. Then take it to any machine shop and have them swap the pins out. The 95+ pin length is posted around here also.

Antz97ZNJ, you have over 4000 posts and know that stuff like that doesn't belong here even if joking. There is a younger crowd who reads this board also. Thanks!

Your post was reported to me using the "Report Post To Moderator" link. It was offensive to the person. Just please remember to consider others when posting on a public forum, that's all.

No, that's not it at all. Not only can that be offensive but posting 10 lines with 100 characters of each letter made it worse. I realize it was a joke with you and the poster but all may not have seen that. The post had no value to it plus it was considered offensive. Like I mentioned before, just please keep in mind this is a public forum and also the tech forum. Thanks!
