Valvoline Durablend

I would like some opinions on the Valvoline durablend...

It's Valvoline's conventional motor oil mixed with some synthetic motor oil, so it has both in it. I just put it in my car this oil change, 10W40 durablend. I am hesitant about going full synthetic w/ 101k on the clock. But I am thinking the durablend is better than running just conventional motor oil, but probably not quite as slippery as Synthetic. Thoughts?

i dont understand why you wouldnt want to use a synthetic oil?
"Synthetic oils offer the only truly significant differences, due to their superior high temperature oxidation resistance, high film strength, very low tendency to form deposits, stable viscosity base, and low temperature flow characteristics. Synthetics are superior lubricants compared to traditional petroleum oils. You will have to decide if their high cost is justified in your application."
i was just doing some research on oil and the different applications for certain oil weights and came across the article above. from what ive read, i would definitely switch to a fully synthetic oil with a higher mileage (any mileage) engine. now i havent gotten to the rules on switching oils, so someone else might need to clearify those rules for you and i. however, if possible, synthetic may be better for your high mileage engine. i know this has nothing to do with valvoline, but i know they do offer a full synthetic blend that could possibly better protect your engine. just my thoughts.

I think the reason he is hesitant with a high mileage engine is due to synthetics ability to "find" oil leaks that you didnt know you had due to their ability to be much thinner and still protect like a thicker conventional oil. I would like to switch, but am scared of them finding a leak that i dont have money to fix, and also the increased cost. Plus, the engine has over 90,000 miles of dino running through its veins, so i think its going good.

Yeah that's why I'm hesitant to switch to the full synthetic blends. I don't want to make an oil leak that I didn't previously have due to switching of the oil.
