valve lash question

alright, when adjusting your valve lash with polylocks on our cars, after gettin to zero lash, how much preload should there be? i've always set mine with the car running and adjusted them till they stopped making noise and that was it. this time i did it with the car off, TDC method, and gave it a half of a turn. seems like it is making a little noise now so im going to pull the covers again. if i do it with the car running again, should i just tighten them till they stop making noise, or should i tighten them up a little more than that as well? whether i do it running or not, how much preload should there be?

Re: valve lash question

Stock lifters can take up to a full turn of preload. Other lifters like Comp Rs take hardly any. Stock preload is usually stated as anything from 1/2 to a full turn. It's your call. You can do less if you want. Preload is the same, regardless of method.
