Valve Covers

Where is the best place to find Valve covers to clear RR's. I have the comp pro magnums. also what color do you guys think would look good. I hear chrome is pain to keep clean but I still want something to make it look like I have some work done under the hood.

Re: Valve Covers

Unfortunatetly, there isn't the greatest selection of aftermarket valve covers for our cars. But as mentioned above, ebay would be a good start. I just purchased a pair of chrome valve covers off a board member for 60 bucks. Whatever you do find though, you may have to grind your alterator a little bit in order for it so sit in its proper location with the addition of aftermarket valve covers.

Re: Valve Covers

The stock valve covers can be modified to clear the CC Pro Magnum RR's. Cut the support between the centerbolt tube and the intake side of the valve cover. Leave the lower support in place to hold the tube in place.

I have the same RR's you have and it takes less than 2 minutes to do the mod with a pair of slip joint pliers, just flatten out those ribs. Piece of cake.

Re: Valve Covers

I clearanced a set of the e-bay covers, they will not fit is stock form. THe problem is not the height but rather how wide the trunions are.
Here is a shot of my covers modified

Re: Valve Covers

I like the LT4 composite valve covers. They look clean and supposidly eat up valvetrain noise.

Re: Valve Covers

Yeah I bought some off ebay about a month ago. They were polished aluminum and knotched for the alt. I stil had to do a lot of cutting to the supports to make them fit. I figured it would have already been done. Also the hole was in the wrong spot. It was in the back instead of the front which will make it a PITA to fill it with oil.

Re: Valve Covers

I have the LT4 valve covers on my Camaro. They fit fine and clear rockers without modification. On my TA I powder coated the stockers black and modified them as the above post says, They fit the Promags perfectly.

I put the LT4 covers on a few months ago, and they clear the alternator just fine. They were a drop in cover, and required no modification at all to clear the Scorpion 1.7 RR.

If they'll clear the Scorpions, I guarantee you they will clear just about any rocker arm out there (the Scorpions are huge!)

Could you get a better picture of the underside of those covers? Yours is a little blurry. It looks like you only have to clearance one side of the cover or did you have to trim both sides of the cover?

I bought these one's:

Think they look sweet as hell, kinda wanted them for a while and the upgrade to pro-mags was justification enough for me to spend $150 on valve covers, lol. Still need to grind the alternator a bit to get them to fit tho.

Re: Valve Covers

I don't think those covers will work with out really cutting the back of the alternator for them to clear.
