Racenent has a set of aluminum VC's for like $150 and chrome for $50 (I think). I can't say that they were fast getting them to me, but they had what I wanted. I got the polished aluminum ones, they're super smooth, BTW! And they do clear the alternator and in fact give you a little more valvetrain clearance.

i tried to order the ones from IRS/racenet last year and they said they were discontinued......they may have picked up another manufacturer since then. however, when i ordered them they told me it would be like 6 weeks. i did not mind since i was goping to play inm the desert for 8 weeks anyway. but after i did not have them in 7 weeks i called and they said they had been discontinued. they had had no intentions of calling and telling me this! i ended up buying them from a place called seco performance for cheaper.

Yeah like I said I was not impressed with their speed. However they were on point as far as emailing me to let me know that they would be delayed, and when to expect them. If you can get them somewhere else, give it a try...but I liked the Racenet ones better than any of the others I found.

Why can't we use regular center-bolt valve covers, will they not fit the heads or is it just because of the alternator mount? I've seen some chrome center-bolt valve covers pretty cheap and was wondering if I could use them or would waste my money.

I received a set of chrome covers as a gift. The difference is that they will chatter on the alternator, so I had to beat in the corner with a ball peen hammer and a bag. It clears now. But I can see where the alternator could "knock" on the valve cover and may cause false knock. So, if you do use non-LT1 valve covers, be sure to beat them in good on the side and measure for clearance.

So they will fit, i just have to mod the pass side for the alternator bracket? Cool. What about the PVC tube and the oil cap, will the PVC fit and do I just have to go with a breather for the oil filler?

I went to the local auto store and got the standard oil caps with rubber inserts. The PCV can use the original rubber grommet but I grabbed a fresh one for a couple of bucks at the store. The screw in cap won't work on the covers I have. Not sure if the one you're checking out is the same. But you can get the oil fill caps at any store.
