Valve Cover modification for 1.6 RR's
Valve Cover modification for 1.6 RR's
Pretty much a simple question.
What do I have to do to make them fit? I know that there is a clearance issue with the alternator. Whats the easiest way around all this?
Thanks

There is no clearance issue with the alternator, same valve covers, i didnt do the actual install of my 1.6 rollers, but my understanding is there is a thin piece of metal that has to be bent/removed for them to clear on the inside of your stock valve covers.

With mine, all I had to do is pinch the cross brace where the bolts run thru. Did that on all four spots on each and the valve cover sits just fine. I didn't have any issues with the alt area.
Re: Valve Cover modification for 1.6 RR's
Seems like it all depends on your 1.6 RR's. I put in some Comp Cam 1.6 Magnums and no modifications had to be done at all to the valve covers. I just put in some Comp Camp Pro Mags and the covers will no longer fit. I know some cutting needs to be done in order for them to work so instead I just ordered some off ebay. If you buy the older style chevy center bolt valve covers, they will work fine ,but I am pretty sure some modifications need to be done for the alternator. Check this link out, these are what I ordered. The stock valve covers are pretty ugly so I got these for $85. Not to bad and no modifications needs to be done for the alt. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ALUMI...QQcmdZViewItem
