valve cover breather???

i just bought aftermarket valve covers and im deleting my pcv valve or whatever that thing is that goes into the pasenger side valve cover. i was wondering what to do with that open hole, do i stick a valve cover breather in it? do i cap it? and what about the otherside do i stick a breather in that side also?
my freind told me that breathers will make me loose horse powerand that i should use a crank case breather or something.
does anone know what that is? he said you can use the smog pump and hook it up as a crank case vacume

I had a valve cover breather for a while...It cut my gas mileage almost in half. I put the stock breather hose back on...gas mileage went back to normal. Something about unmetered air in the system. Sucks cause it sure did look cool.

They're more for an appearance mod than performance. On a lightly modded car it's pointless to have a breather...it offsets the air compression as stated earlier...

gee maybe if i take my breather off and put my pcv system back on my car I will get 40 mpg with my h/c/i lt1

The stock PCV system is a good system.

i read on www.turbobuick.com along time ago about VC breathers
and the consensus was that on boosted cars they were a good thing and NA cars there is really no gain to be had and in some cases can be "harmful"!?!
i have no real info about it tho and thats the farthest i ever read about them.....

listen northern nevada *** the stock system is fine, however for me it wasn't an option. I also wanted the engine bay cleaner, by getting rid of it, there are less lines... I don't think that the breather is hurting me.
