cammed engine run like crap without converter?

Someone told me that the LT1 with a cam will basically run like crap without a converter. Is this true?

It'll run fine provided your already above a certain RPM. You'll have no low-end whatsoever. Big cams don't like low RPM ranges.

When I put headders on and !cats, I dynoed it before and after. I didn't lose any low end torque, I just gained torque in the mid range and top. (I actually gained a little in the low end, but not as much as the mid range)

Didnt notice any diffrence in ordinary driving when i installed my cc305 and mild ported heads, had enough low end torque, the biggest problem was to get the street tires to hook.
On a good track was onother thing, if i got a dead hook on the bfg it felt really powerless under 2500-3000.

So if you spend a lot of time at the track get a new converter but for ordinary driving the stock converter works ok.

About the cam: I wich i could have gone bigger then the cc305, It was a nice cam but a little to small for my taste. we have emission test here every year so the cc305 was the biggest i new should have a chance to pass .

nte: have 3,23 rear

its no that i only have so much cash im just trying to find a good deal without spending a grand on a stall. I saw one on there that is a 2600. I was looking for maybe a 2800 or 3000 for the same price as that one.
