Valve Cover Breather

Evening All, my buddy recommended I get a Valve Cover breather to reduce pressure in the engine. He says they have some that just screw in where the oil cap goes...plug and play. Im afraid Ill have oil blowing out of the thing. Is it this easy to prevent a seal leak later....Im all bolt on only...any info is always appreciated..

I don't think you'll have to worry about oil blowing all over the place.

Not any advantages to putting a breather on if you are normally aspirated. A search will tell you all you need to know.

I had one for awhile and did not have any oil spitting out anywhere. However, after doing a little research on the subject I removed it since it "opens up" an otherwise closed system. Check here for more info.

does anyone know where to get a breather that fits in the stock cover rubber?? i couldn't believe how much oil was coated on my intake when i pulled the throttle body. i disagree with "it wont do anything". power probably not but cleaner intake (no oil vapor) absolutely IMHO.

I've got one; no problems whatsoever.

Go to the K&N website, measure the diameter of the filler opening, and get one to fit it. That's all I did; looks real good.

Agree though, it's more for looks than anything. If you have a supercharger or something that is seriously going to increase crankcase pressure, it will help reduce that pressure.

for us normal guys, it's basically for looks.

If you're using a strut tower brace, installing a breather in place of the oil fill cap can result in clearance problems. The Metco breather that Tunderracing sells woundn't clear my Hotchkis bar. I think the braces offered by BMR and Edelbrock might offer more clearance, though.

i would suggest running a system like a lot of the LS1 guys are with a catch can for the oil, that way you don't have to worry about oil in the intake and you still keep it a closed system
