valve adjustment (shoebox)
I read this on your webpage, but was told something different tonight.
I was told to rotate the engine and watch the intake valve, when the pushrod comes all the way up and doesn't seem to go up anymore, I was told to set zero lash and preload on both the exhaust and intake for that cylinder. This is the the fourth time that I've had to adjust mine so I was wondering if the guy has been doing it wrong. I plan on adjusting them tomorrow, so if you could get back to me asap I would appreciate it.
I don't know if you need this info, but I have 1.6rr with poly locks.

Re: valve adjustment (shoebox)
Yah he was wrong. You want to find zero lash and adjust them when each valve is all the way closed. So once the intake valve is all the way open, the ehxuast should be all the way closed and can be adjusted. You can not adjust the valve with it all the way open...that is the point in which the rocker will be under the most stress and ti will be impossible to adjust it at that point since it's under load.
Re: valve adjustment (shoebox)
I think you were told up when they meant down (or they meant watch for the valve to come up, not pushrod). That method will work, but you have to watch very closely. The method instructions on my page are accurate.
