Made it to the track

Though it has some serious tune issues apparently, best run of the night was 8.18 @87.78 1/8, and 12.720 @ 107.77 1/4 with a 1.92 60'

Ran later against a fast honda who's buddies were talking **** and I ran a 12.785 @106.41 with a 1.83 60' to his 12.798 @ 105.83 with a 1.78 60'. Yeah, 60 footed by a honda. To be fair, he had 9" et drags in the front. At least I won. Weather wasn't too bad, but real Hot and humid. I dead hooked on all the passes I made with the ET Streets, so now I just need to find the rest of the power.

The cam's a 233/239 .569/577 on a 112, those runs were through the cutout
Have all the boltons but a big TB... 3000 stall, 3.73. Runs were on 11.5 ET streets. Ran 12.99 @ 107 with the street tires (1.97 60') Anyone have any ideas other then the tune being off, which I'm sure it is(mail-order)?

Sounds like you need more practice launching on sticky tires. Your 60' time only dropped .05 seconds from your time with street tires.

Also, were you shifting the car or did you just leave it in drive?

No shifting manually. My best 60' was 1.82, and I know I could take that down to at least low 1.7s. It bogged on every launch on the ETs. Biggest problem is the MPH isnt there

Nice tires!!! Nice times too. How was the tranny shifting? Mine is starting to shift slow, especially after a couple of runs. Could be a lil time in there. Only other things is that that stock TB is chonking ya down a lil. Plus, rumor has it, that track is a lil long. Your mph is low though. I trapped 108-110 on my 3 runs before I had to put her down. Other than that, the tune is the only thing I can think of Chris.

Re: Made it to the track

107 MPH is pretty low. It should be AT LEAST 113 MPH even with a stock TB.

I would re check rocker arm adjustment. Adjust them 1/8 or 1/116 past zero lash on stock lifters. I would run R lifters AT ZERO lash. Valve lash being too tight will KILL HP and E.T. and most people are running their rockers too tight.

Does it ever "surge" or "lay over" on top end (or at any point) or does it seem to pull about the same all of the way through?

Is it getting any KR? Some colder plugs (NGK TR6) might help a lil or a re tune.

What does the A/F look like?
Does the fuel pressure stay constant or does it drop?
Do you have 30 lb injectors?

You might get it scanned and see what is going on and get it re tuned assuming the rocker adjustment, cold plugs and fuel pressure are not the problem.

Only way to know for sure is to dynotune it, or hook up a scanner tool to it. Without that then your just guessing. My .02

Rockers aren't too tight, I know that. Any looser and the car wont idle - IE: valves are staying open. They're at about 1/4 turn past zero on 7/16 studs (850-16 stock replacement lifters) and are pretty noisy, but tolerable. Fuel pressure is fine, brand new racetronix pump, checked it over and its great. Plugs are also brand new, Autolite 104 (TR6) gapped at .04

I dont think I'm getting any knock retard, but I'll check ASAP.
30 LB injectors and tuned for them. Car pulls hard to redline (6600) and shifts hard. I guess it's off to the dyno to see what's up. I'll post results ASAP

Re: Made it to the track

I'm trying to locate my the reason for my low dyno numbers but i think i maybe on to the problem. The one thing everyone told me was to check my lifters. I was running 850-16's with the 230/236 and you have more lift than i did. You might want to look into some Comp R's.

This is true, my one or two of my lifters are not pumping up all of the way (stock lifters) with my hotcam setup, i am going with Comp R's soon, then maybe I will pick up a few HP

Re: Made it to the track

The lifters are setup with a spring well in their capacity and have less them 5000 miles on them. I dont see them being the problem, though I might have to go there eventually.

Re: Made it to the track

UPDATE: Two of my wires weren't pushed in all the way on the optispark (WTF?) I pushed em in, CLICK. DOH! Bent my driver's spindle, so I got to put the new one on before I can drive to see if that was indeed my problem. Sounds different at idle though, so I'm pretty sure that was it.

Re: Made it to the track

If the plug wires werev that way for very long, a new set of plugs would be a good idea as well.

Hopefully that will help with the missing 6-8 MPH and be worth SEVERAL tenths in the 1/4 mile.
