Vacuum Reading with Cam

If you put a cam in your car how much of a drop should you have in vacuum? mine is at 11hg right now and im trying to find out why its so low. replaced the pcv valve already and i dont hear any air leaking. im troubleshooting transmission problems (not shifting right @WOT).

i had big vacuum problems when i put my le1 cam in. the biggest problem was valve adjustment. eentuall;y had to adjust em with the car running and now ive got 15-16 "hg

You should see 14-16 inhg with that cam. Try readjusting the valves and how certain are you the cam was installed correctly?

would having the valves adjusted too tight create the lower vacuum or too loose? and what exactly do you mean about the cam being installed correctly? everything went smooth when we did the cam. its been running fine. thanx,
