vacuum hose
vacuum hose
i need to replace the vacuum hose that goes from the valve cover to the throttle body, do i need to get the exact hose or will a straigt piece of hose work and is how does it hook to the valve cover just the rubber gromet cause i have oil on my throttle body
Any hose of similar inside diameter will work. There should be a plastic elbow that pushes into the grommet in the top of the valve cover, and the hose pushes onto the plastic elbow.
Its not actually a "vacuum" hose. Is supplies air from in front of the throttle blades to the valve cover, so it can be pulled through the crankcase by the PCV valve vacuum. It isn't unusual to find a bit of oil in the hose of the throttle body, but an excessive amount may indicate heavy blowby on the rings. When the PCV valve can't handle the volume of gasses produced by the bottom end of the engine, the pressure will blow the vapor through the valve cover, where it entrains oil droplets, and into the throttle body.
Check the PCV valve to make sure its working.
