Arrow Using smog pump for vac. pump(shoebox)

Is it possible to use the smog pump for a vac. pump ? Just run the out let to a bung in the exhaust and the inlet side to the pcv on the intake? your thoughts .. Thanks Will this solve low vac. problem?

I don't think the air pump is that powerful...

I don't think I would do it the way you described and I doubt that it will work for that particular use. The motor could probably not take it. You could always do some testing with it if you have nothing else to do.

Well, since he said he wanted it to solve a low vacuum problem, I thought he wanted it as additional vacuum to run accessories like the brake booster, not an evac system that other thread was talking about.

Using the AIR pump to pull a vacuum on the intake manifold, and then dumping the air into the exhaust system makes no sense at all. You might slightly increase vacuum under some condtions, but you would be pulling air out of the intake manifold that has already been measured by the MAF sensor, and is intended for combustion. At WOT, you would effectively be stealing airflow from the intake runners.

And, dumping air into the exhaust would completely screw up the O2 sensor readings, making the engine run pig rich.

Or did I miss the point of your question?
