i was wondering if this would help out at all on my 97 lt1. i have two cats on this car. but if i was to put just a straight pipe in exchange of the one under the passenger seat? woudl this help out at all? what are the pros and cons of this. and should i do it if i plan on doing cat back slp loudmouth in the next few weeks?

unequal back preasure dont sound like a good idea but im no mechanic. I would take them both off and beat all the stuff out of the inside and put them back on.

Just leave the cats on till you get headers and a new y-pipe.

It would prolly be easiest and about the same effect to just clean out the inside of the cat and reuse its casing (you can forget about passing emissions tho). I would be carful though about doing this with a slp loudmouth because I've heard that taking the cats out makes it even louder and raspier.

well i dont have emissions testings here so i dont have to worry about that. just wondering if it is worth it to take it off but i guess i will leave it alone till i do headers. thanks all

You do realize that the cat under the passenger seat is only connected to the passenger bank of the engine. The one for the drivers bank is up against the bottom of the exhaust manifold.

It wouldn't make nay sense to run a cat on one side of the engine and no cat on the other. I can't see how that would provide any sort of performance gains.
