Well, my used CC306 arrived today. This is the first time I have ever held a cam in my own two hands before, so I don't really have anything to compare it to. The guy said it only had like 8 dyno runs on it. I was hoping somebody could tell me what kind of "wear" could be expected. There are a few tiny rust spots here and there on it and some very fine scratches. Here's a pic of the very worst of it: http://community.webshots.com/photo/...65475300XiIRPD Is this to be expected? The little things that look like metal shavings on there are actually just fibers from the tube sock it cam shipped in. Should I be concerned about the little rust dots? Any use in trying to clean it?

 

its not that bad i just got a used lt4 hotcam and its in the same condition an di was told it wasnt used much.

 

What you should be concerned about is how long the dowel sticks out. If it is out to far it will ruin your opti. Looks a little long, maybe cause it's a close-up pic.

 

It has to go through the cam gear first.

 

it needs to be long for the 95+ opti.. not sure the exact length.. the dowel was long also on my 94 opti and there's no ill-effects

 

Man nothing wrong with that cam. Thats just wear the cam was riding on the bearings. And spray you some brake cleaner on it and wipe those TINY...rust marks off.
