Upgrade starter or not?

Well, it finally went. I got out of work and go to start my car to find my starter is bad. Luckly my boss had a hammer in the office. So before i go to AutoZone and get a reman i just wanted to know if i would be better off with the LT4 starter. Does the slightly bigger cam affect it? Thanks for any help.

Main reason for getting a high torque starter would be because of higher compression ratios. I'm sure with the cam you added a little dynamic compression, but that's nothing the stock starter can't handle. BUT, since it's already coming off, you might as well go with the Lt4 starter. From what I've heard they sound more "racey" and cooler.

I have it. Mine went out, and since it is almost the same price from Vato Zone as it is from the dealer (or gmpartsdirect) I went for it. I believe I got it for about $155.

I did the LT4 starter after mine went hay-wire, sounds racey when you start it, like a quick spinning whine sound, pretty sweet. Also moves the solenoid away from your headers and their heat.
