Upgrade from 93 harness/PCM to 94. Possible?

Hey guys,
After screwing with my AutoProm for months now I have given up. I ordered a Painless VATS delete module from a local speedshop and now have the '93 LT1/T56 running in my Vega with a stock PROM.

I'm looking for information on a 93 to 94 upgrade. Would it be possible to repin my harness into 94 PCM connectors and run a 94 PCM so I can flash it instead of using the AutoProm? I searched the forums but didn't really find anything substantial.

Thanks,
Colin

If the pins are physically the same (I don't know), it would just be a matter of swapping them to the 94 shells and appropriately matching them up. If the pins are not the same, you would need to add the step of changing them to the job. You'll also need to add wiring for a MAF, unless you are going to run a speed density only tune. Or you can just find a 94-95 harness.

Re: Upgrade from 93 harness/PCM to 94. Possible?

shoebox,
Thanks for the post. I am running a Painless harness so I'd rather not ditch it and go with a stock harness, especially considering I have always intended to run smog delete on the car. I suppose I could sell my harness and go with a later model harness but that's pretty expensive. I think my harness was pretty cheap when I bought it and Painless doesn't make a 92-93 harness anymore so it probably wouldn't be very desirable if I decided to sell it, anyway.

I know that the later LT1s are sequentially injected which means I'll have to rework the injector harness at the PCM. Most of the pinouts should be similar, though. Do you have pinouts for 93 on your site? I didn't see them in the same area as your 94-95.

My problem resides from the fact that there isn't a solid BIN anywhere on the 'net for 93 LT1. I got a bad PCM/PROM CEL (solid light on) and never once was able to check the codes. Put in the stock PROM and it fired right up with the VATS delete module from Painless. Very annoying.

I'd rather just ditch this whole setup and go with a flash-based PCM. At least there's aftermarket support.

Thanks again,
Colin

Old post showing the pinouts for a 93.
