Do you have this book:

If not, buy it before you do anything else.

I bought that book last year, definitely well worth the 15 bucks, it really lays everything out in good detail.

I haven't seen that book before. I don't plan on rebuilding my engine anytime soon, but I went ahead and got it for some good reading I'm sure. Thanks for the recommendation Fred.

the other 4 are covered with rust from the antifreeze. we are going to hone the walls and try to get the crap out and hope that it is just surface rust....

you may have trouble with that block - from the looks of the second picture I don't think you'll be able to bore that rust out - .040 is about all I would go and there is a lot of rust in there

if its just rust from sitting then a hone will take it out. But for good measures I would at least take it out to .020" over if you werent planning on boreing it at all.
