Unusual Starter Behavior (will not crank)

I have an LT4 car that had a dead battery. After charging the bettery over night the car still will not start. The starter is making noise I have never heard before. It sounds like the starter is enguaging and disenguaging from the flywheel. It is almost like the clicking sound you get when the bettery is low but much louder. The rest of the car comes up fine. Is it possible the batter can not supply enough amperage? Anyone else experience this?

I'd say your battery is no good. A battery usually only lasts as long as its quaranteed.

Don't mess with a so so battery. Get a new one.

I had a similar problem when I first got my 97 TA. Everything would cycle like normal, fuel pump, interior lights, etc... When you hit the switch, everything would die. Turns out, the cable itself was corroded internally (cheap POS). So, after getting a new cable and having the dealer install it, everything has worked fine and is still working good. Bout time for a new battery though, the original delco or whatever it is is still in there. Optima coming soon.

Many department chains sell Delcos for a good price. If you have the do re me, I'd get an optima red top. There are also good batteries out there that are pretty inexpensive. There are also some crap out there, so maybe some one here can give you another recommendation.

A good top of the line Die Hard (sears) is a good choice. There are some lesser touted brands that have also proven their metal.JMHO

Thanks for the advice guys. I picked up an interstate MT-75 for a good price at the local parts store. I will throw a quick charge on it and keep you posted.

Looks like the battery was at fault. I guess it delivered the volts but not the amps. Got another issue with a diag code now. Will post in new thread.
