Some one made a post about this a while ago, It should trigger the ses light and cause my fans to be on all the time right? It wont make the car act like crap will it?

 

In the OBD-I cars (93-95) unplugging the AIR pump will not set the SES light or a code or turn on the fans, as long as there is a good fuse in the circuit. Only the OBD-II cars need to worry about that.

Since the pump only runs for 3 minutes or so on startup, it isn't going to affect the way the engine runs.

 

I'm interested in removing the AIR pump connections to my headers just to clean up the engine bay and simply unplug the AIR pump. However, I do not want to remove the pump and metal hose as I will have to reconnect for visual emission test (I live in Texas). Is this approach possible? Same thing w/ the EGR. Would prefer to leave the valve in place and just disconnect the vacuum hoses from it and the intake, etc. Have an OBD1. Watcha think???

It always confuses me when people say they are removing the EGR system to clean up the engine bay... other than the vacuum line, its impossible to see. And there is no performance gain.... so why do it?

On the AIR, not clear what you want to remove, what you want to leave, and what you want to reinstall for emissions testing. Do you mean remove the pipe/check valves from each exhaust manifold, plug them with the M22 drain plugs, and also remove the rubber hoses?

 

Regarding the EGR, I can leave it alone. Removing it has nothing to do w/ cleaning up the engine bay. Simply doing the "free mod" thing.
Regarding the AIR pump, my question is: Can I simply unplug the pump, leave it in place, and remove the check valves, hoses, etc that are most visible, and cap the exhaust manifolds and inlet to the CAI? This would allow me to reinstall for emissions testing and have a cleaner engine bay during car show season.
