Question Which cut out for stock exhaust?

Which size cut out should I buy???
For a stock exhaust 96 Z28. I found this one from jegs but am not sure which size I need. Has anyone done this? What size did you use? I've heard that a 3 incher will work but I know. The stock pipe is smaller than that. I've heard 2.75 but nobody seems to know for sure. Anywhooo here's the Link http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommer...162&prmenbr=361 Please help me pick my cut out. Thanks in advance.....Later

If you're just putting 1 on the I pipe, 3" is what you need.

Thanks guys, I'll check with my muffler shop and see what they can do. Did the $40 include the cap too or did you have to get that elsewhere? If so where? Thanks again......Later

the stock I-pipe is 2.75 Inches.
Catbacks usually are 3"
A 3" could be fabbed to work on your 2.75" I pipe and leave room to get a catback later.

Id get a FlowTech Cut out there only like 30 or 35 bucks and are really well made. Dont waste your time with something Electrical its not worth the money and its alot more fun to crawl under your car to uncap it

The $40 included the gasket and cap, along with 3 nuts and washers...

There's nothing wrong with the DMH e-cutout. I personally don't have one, but after I switch exhausts with a buddy of mine (my FM for his SLP LM) I'll have two custom cutouts installed on my Y pipe and order a pair of DMH e-cutout for the sole purpose of scaring the crap out of people at stop lights.

Wow that's a good deal. I checked at a shop around here that does good work and they want $60 for parts and labor. They said they will order the cutout and put it on so I guess that's not too bad since the cutout alone is $30-40. Thanks for the help guys. Oh By the way did you guys with cutouts like the sound. I heard a couple sound clips and it sounded pretty sweet but haven't heard one in real life yet.

I recently got a DMH e-cutout put on my Z28. I used to only have a flowmaster 80 series muffler. The cutout absolutely dwarves the flowmaster in terms of sheer loudness on the inside. However, my car is not too ridiculously loud on the outside. Keep in mind I mounted the cutout after the cat, just before the rear axle. At first I thought the cutout would make my car sound raspy. This was not the case at all! The car makes an extremely deep and rattles the living crap outta the whole interior when you reach about 1800-2000 rpm's. Anything higher than 2000 rpms and the sound becomes a lot quieter. I LOVE the cutout. I picked up 2 tenths in the 1/4 mile and 2mph over the flowmaster 80 series. It's an EXCELLENT deal for both the sound and performance. If you have the stock piping you'll want a 3" cutout. I think our cars have 2.75" piping, the 3" cutout will slip right over and weld on perfectly.
