Re: Uninstall/reinstall heads quote

If your at all mechanicly inclined.....I would pick up a couple different shop manuals for your car and do a bit of studying and research about the head swap.....if then you still dont want to attempt it alone.....rather than to have a shop do it where mabe you can't see every step of the process....Have someone to do it (like one of these guys) while you observe and learn for next time......I say this because with almost all modded motors there's ALWAYS a next time, and it's usually sooner than you'd like.....and there's just no sence always paying rip off shop labor prices......not to mention half the shops out there are a bunch of hacks that just slap things together......

Definately the best way to do it.... have someone help you do it yourself so you have someone there to answer any questions and guide you through it. That way next time you cna do it yourself and have the satisfaction of having more money to mod you car and the pride of doing it yourself. Nothing beats smoking the guy in the lane next to you who sent his car to the shop for EVERYTHING.

It pays to work on your own vehicle. I wouldn't be able to afford my 5 cars and two motorcycles if I had to pay someone else to work on them.
agreed..i would have liked to have done everything on my vehicle..but i just started the whole car thing a few years ago, and didnt know a damn thing when i first started. i know much more now as far as how things work, what needs to go where, etc, just dont havent done much of it myself. . i'd love to see someone do it, and then i can watch and help, this way i can learn how to take everything apart without messing it all up.

Why not just buy a set of used LT1 heads and have them ported? Then when you ready to install them you can remove them yourself. No real down time then. A better idea IMO.
