Under the dash, Which color wire controls the Speedo?

My Speedo's out... When I bang on the dash the speedo will bounce around even when I'm stopped. When I'm doing like 70 it will bounce around spurratically between 10 and 25... I'm guessing something somewere is shorted...

What color wire controls the speedo under the dash?

At first I thought it would be the VSS but with an A4... I'm able to get out of 1st gear quite fine (they say if it was out you won't beable to get out of 1st...)

Cool Re: Under the dash, Which color wire controls the Speedo?

To answer your question, the wiring diagram I see says the wire you are looking for is Dark Green/White coming from the pcm. However, there is a solid state module in the speedo cluster, so you could have a bad cluster or loose wire which is what you are hoping im sure.
