Depends on what your looking for. A heads and cam package can make great power, but a turbo can make just as much or more on a stock LT1. Are you running a stock bottom end in your car?

what is you budget and goals?
h/c packages top out around 475rwhp with a extreme setup. A turbo setup tops out around 1100rwhp. The possibilities are endless, need lots more info.
To answer your question in short, a turbo.

well man, to tell ya, i just built my turbo setup, and i built it dirt cheap. I spent 2k+ on just building the seutp, injectors, turbo, wastegate

if you could do 5k or so, that'd be doable for a decent turbo setup with internals n stuff.

Turbo setup:
Realquick log manifold setup
Master Power T70 turbo
8 or 9 psi spring

siemen deka 60# injectors
racetronix 255lph fuel pump

TRW speed pro -21.10 CC pistons
scat h-beam rods
stock crank

stock ehads, stock cam

car will idle like stock, sound stock (with a catback), but put down 500 or so RWHP and get you into 10's with proper suspension

Turbo setups you dont really NEED a 58mm throttle body or ported heads or anything crazy like that.

If heads and cam are choose responsibly the car should be very drivable.

Few years ago I went to an Impala gathering in IL was a car there with a single turbo running 11psi intercooled plus alky injection. The engine had forged pistons in it(cracked a stocker) but was otherwise stock cam and heads. He ran 12.8 in october weather(best ever was 12.5 at 107mph), today my heads and cam car runs 12.8 in the worst summer weather the midwest has to throw at it.

Point being throwing forced induction at an otherwise stock setup does not make great power. You can get away with lots of boost and stock heads to make power but have to worry about the pistons.

If you're dead-set on forced induction, have you considered something
along the lines of a supercharger, such as the ProCharger?

by the reply you gave you need to do more research. I not trying to be a ******** but you dont really know what you are doing. Before you take out that 3k loan i would research until your blue in the face. That way you will make the most of your money.
First, are you going to be doing the mods yourself or with a buddy with "know how" or are you going to be paying for the install?

Paying for the installs will eat up your funds, you will get twice or three times further with that 3 grand if your not paying a mechanic.
If you arent, i would get a mix of mods for power, suspension, and chasis. A 100 extra hp wont do anything good unless you can put it to the ground its useless. So things like sub frame connectors, drag radials, etc. will make your hp mods really do their job.
I asked you this before, what is your goal for the car? This is important and the reason why im asking it again. So please share.

If you do a search in the forced induction section of this website you ll find plenty of results. The consenus is if you cant afford a rebuild the day after the car is boosted you shouldnt be doing it. The 10.4.1 compression and pis pistons we are so lucky to have wont make it far without a "perfect" tune so little people can provide. The results: engine builders get more work.

So i would steer you away from a turbo or supercharger. Your 3k may only be enough for bolt ons if you do things right. (hp, suspension, chasis, mods) If you can find some cheap help or can manage on you own, you could prolly do a cam too with all the bolt ons. good luck on this one

go to the forced induction section. Are you planning on building the whole thing, buying hotpats, or having one built.
As mentioned, 3k should be enough for parts. If your building your bottom end also it may be more like 4k. But you would have a very easy time making 450-600rwhp. After 600rwhp your going to need a complete forget bottom end, big time trans and rear end. Well, it just gets really expensive at that point because there would be few stock parts left.
But like already mentioned, you could put a log setup and a t70 for pretty cheap. good luck

I went 10.80 at 127.8 with a car that sounded stock, drove like stock other than the stall, and got decent gas mileage. That was only on 11.5 lbs also because I was running 42lb injectors.
