Thumbs down Tuning Issues? Please Help

This everytime after I try to full throttle it. The trans will kick down into 1st, shift to second and it's like it falls on it's face after shifting to second, then when you come to a stop and take off again, it doesn't want to shift right. It wraps way out and then shifts way hard at way higher than normal driving shifts, and it won't idle back down below like 1350 rpm's either. What's going on with it. It threw a code for the TPS, but I don't think it would be causing all of this would it.

Just had the fluid and the filter changed before motor install, plus it didn't do it before the motor swap. The tranny operates fine until after you do a full throttle run. The tuner said something about it maybe going into abuse mode, which I've never heard of. He said he could tune it out.

Re: Tuning Issues? Please Help

by abuse mode the tuner might have been referring to the trans adapts. this is where your transmission will actually learn your driving style. there are 16 different trans adapt learning cells in your transmission and i would bet that all of them are negative,(meaning they decrease pressure for every shift because the car is driven hard) so when you floor it pulls pressure from the shift, but when your back to normal driving its trying to adapt to your new more aggressive style. but back to your tps code, yes a bad tps can cause this problem. i replaced one a month ago at work doing pretty much this same thing.

Get your TPS checked out or changed. Mine did the exact same thing when my TPS was bad and it shifts hard because the computer thinks you are WOT so the tranny will shift like it does in WOT. Get that done ASAP because that lead to my tranny failure.

Thanks guys, hopefully I've found my fix.

Josh95Z28, I think I know you. Is your car red, and did you have a buddy named Kyle with a white SS. If so I raced him a few years ago with a black Z28. I think you raced my buddy with the 30th anniversary a couple times. Good to see somebody I actually know on here.

Yup. Kyle sold the SS. He then sold his 67 Camaro race car for 02 Camaro race car. Should run 7's, but he's lost interest and is selling it after only once down the track. Its a shame

He's now in texas too, in the amarillo area. There arnt too many of my buddies left there.

Man those were the days. If a cop even thinks you're street racing here, its a felony. They take you to jail, take your liscense, and impound your car for a while. I guess its always better to keep it at the track anyway
