Tune w/ hot cam
Tune w/ hot cam
With the Gm hot cam kit do i need a pcm tune. And if i need the tune should i run emissions or not on the long tubes. Were i live it doesnt matter. Say i get the emissions lt and run a o/r y-pipe wat do i need to hook up the air and egr? Say then i dont run emissions and i turn off the air and egr with the tune wat else do i need to do to my car to make things work right? Any help would be appreciated.
With that cam, you can get away without a tune, but it would still be of benefit to have. If you get emissions style headers, you basically hook up the AIR and EGR systems as you would to the stock manifolds. If you get the race style headers, you will need some EGR blockoff plates. As for tuning in regards to headers, the year of your car would be of a great help. In the 96-97 cars, if you use race style headers, you will need to tune out the AIR, EGR, and rear 02 codes. If you have a 93-95 car, you do not need to worry about rear 02 sensor codes as there are none. As for the AIR system, as long as you keep a intact electrical circuit with a good fuse, you shouldn't need to get that tuned out. As for the EGR, it is a hit or miss. If the SES light comes on, then get it tuned out.
