Re: tune up

How many miles on your car? Is there any sign of misfiring, hesitation, stumbling, etc that would lead you to believe that the Optispark distributor is a problem? If not, you may not need to replace the cap and rotor. And, if you do suspect the Opti is faulty, its generally a good idea to replace the entire unit, not just the cap/rotor. The base of the Opti contains the optical sensor/electronics, and the really poor quality bearing, so replacing the cap may not solve your problems, just delay them.

Plugs and wires are always a good idea. Add a PCV valve to the list. Clean the throttle body, including the IAC passages and motor. If other things haven't been changed in a while - tranny fluid, differential fluid, brake fluid, coolant flush/refill, oil/filter.

the previous owner had a new opti installed and had reciepts to show it,the car runs great,i dont ever notice a misfire or stumble, here recently ive had the back brakes, tranny service, oil changed and switched to synthetic, the moroso cai was cleaned, full alignment, tire rotation and the radiator was flushed, the car has 113k and runs great,im just a stickler about maintnence on my cars,I want to get everything out of the way before I start on the performance mods

Re: tune up

With a brand new Opti already on there, don't replace the cap/rotor.

Re: tune up

Other good ideas are to clean your air filter and replace the front O2 sensors if they have 50K+ miles on them.
