tune (shift points)

My lt1 auto hits the rev limit at 5,800 then shifts, and it does not matter if I try to shift it or(short shift)it does it,or it does it if you leave it in drive.I know this is costing me a couple of tenths ,will a tune cure all this?,and the problem seems alot worse since I installed my headers.

May be a sign your trans has a problem. Check out the fluid and see how it smells and looks.

I don't know the stock rev limits but mine has been going over 6000 with no problems at all. You can raise the shifts points and lower them and also raise the rev limiter.

I had a 94 z28 and ran stock tune and had shifting problems with it. it would around 5800 wich is stok limit. i got the hypertech III and raised the shift points, shift firmness, and rev limiter and got rid of the over rev problems i was having.

I just checked my datalog and it hit something at 6275 and the right side bpw went to zero so I assume I hit a rev limiter. I just had a tune tonight installed for my 3.73 gears so maybe the programmer raised the limiter but not high enough or raised my shift points too much. A tune will help but mine looks like it needs some tweeking.
