Unhappy Trying staring my rebuild

OK the shop called and said the block is good ( I spun #8 rod baring ) I want to keep it A 350 and run pump gas I was just going to buy A whole rotate kit H rods forg pistons (will spray). The thing is I wanted to run ebelbrock heads to match the ed headers and the intake I was hoping it would make things E Z to have all the ports match clean. these heads have A 54 cc and doing that will push it close to 11.1 (PUMP GAS) I could get heads with 64 cc and it would be 10.5 or 6 ..... But isn't that counter produktiv ... what do I do??

Impossible to check your CR calculations, since you provide no info about the rebuild (bore, gasket, deck, etc). but they don't seem right. Going from 54cc (same as stock heads) to 64cc will typically reduce the static CR by 1.0. 11.1 SCR on pump gas will probably not be a problem, but you need to check the dynamic CR to see if tou have a problem. Higher is better, as long as you can fuel it. Nitrous likes high CR. In any case if you are buying a new rotating assembly, control the SCR with piston reliefs, not head cc's.

Not sure why you feel you have to match brands on the heads, intake and headers just to "have the ports match clean". Have your stock LT1 heads ported, and the intake matched by the porter. They will easilly outflow a set of Edelbrock heads "out of the box", and should cost you less. The Edelbrock LT1 heads are really no different than the stockers. The Edelbrock LT intake is shy on plenum volume, and the Edelbrock headers are 1-5/8" shorties. Doesn't sound like a recipe for success.

First of all get rid of all edelbrock stuff you have, its junk. Not to be a ******** but there stuff is over priced and does not provide results.

I would use your stock heads if you still have them. Send them out to LE/AI to be ported and get one of their custom cams to match. You have a 58mm tb in your sig so i would have the intake done as well.

Now for the bottom end. There are lots of rebuild kits on summit racing's webiste for 500-600 bucks. I would get a 355 rebuild kit and do a 30 over bore on the block. Than find some cheaper eagle SIR i beams or a similar rod, re use the stock crank. Stud the mains and it should be good for a 175-200shot.

Replace your headers, sell the intake manifold, put in pacesetters LT.

Can you give more info on your goals, budget, future plans?

What this guy said, and also like he said not being a dick head just saying edelbrock has a fairly bad rep with the LT1 crowd, so if possible try to steer away from all things edelbrock.
