Wait wait, are you saying it started fine then this mechanic worked on it and now it wont fire?? Also I didnt think using starting fluid on a fuel injected car as a good Idea. I say switch mechanics or learn to do stuff yourself and save some money in the process.

What he should have done is checked the fuel pressure, not stuff starting fluid in it like a hillbilly.

Are there any codes set? There are codes that will keep the injectors from firing too prevent the engine from starting. Scan it for codes. If the mechanic doesn't have the capability to do that get a new mechanic.

I hope he didn't spill coolant on the Opti, and damage it.

After he sprayed starting fluid into it, you indicate it started. Did it remain running, or did it stall again?

I had the same problem. Mine was running just fine...then pulled the engine and had to replace head gaskets and clean up some stuff...

Put it all back together and wouldnt fire. Turned out to be the fuel pump for me. Make sure your relay is good...i.e hearing it click under the dash and when you turn the key forward make sure you hear the fuel pump turning on as well in the back behind your seats.

if you arent sure...then pull fuel line going to the manifold on the fuel rail and turn key forward and see if it kicks some fuel out of the line. Fast way to do it without any fuel pressure gauges or special tools besides the fuel line removal tool (bout 10 bucks for a set at autozone). if none of that happens...then fuel pump it is. PM if you need any help. just went through this myself.

You posted a response to this question on my "profile" page.... really not a good way to communicate - PLEASE don't do that. Answer in the thread you started, so EVERYONE can see what's going on.
wen he put starting fluid it went on but forcefully
and went he stoped spraying it it went off
If it started on starting fluid, but then died when he stopped spraying it, its not getting any fuel. Could be a fuel pump problem as noted in the post immediately above (which would be an odd coincidence), or it could be a problem with the Opti not producing the low resolution cam position signal. Scan it for codes and see if you have DTC 16, which shuts down the fuel system.

Forgot to add this too...make sure your fuel filter isnt clogged. You can pull it off and try to blow through it...you should be able to get something out the one side. If clogged...then replace and start the process over again...

Is it possible that you have bad gas in the car? Could the fuel pump relay have gone out? Can you hear the fuel pump prime if you put the key to the "ON" position without cranking the car?
