Trying to replace motor mounts, having a problem...

We've gottent the passenger side mount loose (large through bolt out and all the bolts to the block and k-member out. Now we're trying to loosen the through bolt on the driver side and the bolt head on the front is hitting the bolt head of the mount-to-block plate. Is there any way to get the large bolt out that we've done wrong?

Here's a rough picture of what I'm talking about. The two bolts that have the arrows pointed at them, their heads are hitting.

get a dremel w/ a cut off wheel and cut the head off of the through bolt- and pull it out by the nut side...

Thanks, but we got it with a little brute force and the crow bar.

When all else fails, apply more force

If it breaks, blame the cheap stock parts and use it to justify an upgrade.

When i did mine, i ran into that. I just took the 3 bolts out that go into the block. But you already got it done, so this is just for people that may use the search function at a later time.

This wouldn't have worked either, because that front bolt that goes into the block (on the mount) wouldn't come out either due to hitting the large through bolt. Hence a major problem, two bolts that hit each other no matter what we did, til the crow bar came along!

I think the problem ended up being that the mount was so flattened that the through bolt was higher than it should have been, causing the interference. Just fyi, this was on a '97 T/A that had Hooker longtubes. They didn't cause any major problems, just had to be sneaky on a few bolts to get a socket or wrench on them.

This was done at my father's shop, so we were using a drive on lift. So I also found out that when lifting the motor after the bolts are loose, the whole car will still rise a bit from the lost weight of the motor, causing us to think that the damn mounts were still hung up! Took us a good 30 minutes to figure this out! When doing it on the ground with jack stands that shouldn't be a problem.
