True Roller For 94 to 95 opti conversion?
I ordered an electric water pump and a cloyes true roller "jegs part # 02209-3145", I read that this was the timing chain to use with an electric water pump so you don't have to buy the expensive $350 timing chain to run the water pump.
I opened up the box upon receiving the chain and examined the rollers on the chain, and to my suprise the metal covering the bearings has a slit where it looks as if it was wrapped around the bearing. I thought the entire point behind a true roller was that these metal sleeves were one peice and not pressed together. Someone please enlighten me.
Why can't we use a gear drive with an LT1, is it too noisy for the knock sensors? If so doesn't someone make a quiet gear drive? Or does it have clearance issues with the timing cover?
I'm wondering why it costs $80 for the wire adapter from the 95 opti to the harness, is there any cheaper out there or should I just ask for my free vaseline and take it like a man.

If you are referring to the harness that goes from the OPTI to the PCM, my local dealer wanted $145 for it. I found it online from Caspers Electronics for around $40 shipped, which is a pretty good deal. Here's a link:

This is for the 95 to 97 OPTI's. I did have to trim down a piece of plastic on the plug that goes to teh PCM, as it was keyed a bit different than my harness, but it works just fine.

Re: True Roller For 94 to 95 opti conversion?
Thanks for the info atlantagajoe, I once had a quiet gear drive on a 406 sb chevy in my old 73 camaro and it made very little if any noise at all, I believe it was a summit gear drive with the aluminum cover and all. This was about 9 years ago so I may not remember it too well. Anyone have any idea on the true roller question in my earlier post, I need to know so I can either order another or send it to the machine shop my motor is at.
