True Duals on Stock Motor. Torque Loss/Power Loss??

Stock Motor. LT's, CAI, !TB Coolant. I want to run true duals 3 inch all the way, no cats. I know I'll lose low end torque, but the bump up in power curve is worth it for me. My Question:

How much Low End Torque will I Lose?? I can stand to lose 10 and even 15, for the additional 5-10 hp curve bump. But at 20+ and above may be too drastic for myself. If you have dynocharts or physical first hand experience next to a dyno that'd be great. I'm expecting to Dyno 280rwhp and 290 tq with the above mods. And both curves to be about equal throughout the rpm range. Possible?

Edit: Make it 3inch inlet to x-pipe, 2.5inch outlet to bullets. (Damn Alan!!)

Alex

Why go true dual it looks tacky and is unnessasary unless your running 10's.

my reasons: cheaper than a good catback, sounds 10x better, all the flow I'll ever need for heads/cam later, less weight, and the ability to drop them out in 15 minutes to go open LTs

TTT. True Duals don't look tacky?? The cost is about the same for me getting a custom exhaust, except for the added muffler cost.

It's true, I could just make a y-pipe(out of flowmaster scavenger) into 3 incher, throw in a bullet/cheapo muffler and dump before the axle.

But for the added cost of a muffler, I can get X-pipe (cheap summit universal) into 2.5 bullets (Grr at Alan) and dump it before the axle.

Unless getting true duals is suddenly gonna add 100 dollars labor (which I don't see happening unless it is that hard to tuck up with 2.5's) It's about the same cost give or take 30-40 bucks. I can live with it. Do it right the first time.

Why would you lose any torque? You will gain quite a bit of torque! my buddy did that on his 94 z and put down 310rwhp and 340rwtq. He made 340rwtq from 2k all the way to about 5k. This was with lt's and cai only. He had 2.5" true duals with bullet mufflers.

To dyno 310hp to the wheels your buddy would have to be making LS1 power (330-350hp). Youre saying he gained somewhere between 50-70hp from jsut a CAI and exhaust? That seems kinda shady to me. I would think they CAI would add ~10hp max to the wheels. I dont think the car could gain 40-60hp from just exhaust. Maybe I could be wrong...

LS1 power curves are peaky and suck :P. Lets not try to compare. He definately dyno'd those numbers with LT's and CAI only. LT's are worth alot on our cars and 40rwhp is attainable with lt's alone.

I like the modern look of my car so true duals look tacky to me. Especially because most are pieced together.

309/354 hooker Lt's, 1.6 rr's,elec. wp,and a cai.... also dynoed 314/333 w/ a flat torque curve.. different dyno's different day so.. this is also through a 9" so it sucked up some HP.. So its very possible...

Hey, can you post a dyno graph of your buddies car. I'm assuming it's a six speed. I guess anything can happen..... but if he really did pull those numbers then I'm going to take all my bolt ons off but my intake, sell the rest and buy a set of long tubes and true duals. Also some pics of the true duals would be nice to see what I have to do.

I had a pretty restrictive setup to begin with, so I expected some nice gains from my true dual setup. This was back when I had bolt ons....
Hooker LT's, custom y-pipe, gutted cat, flowmaster on stock cat back.
60' 1.83
1/4 13.43
mph 102.54

Switched to 3" true duals, x-pipe, dynomax bullets dumping before rear axle.
60' 1.82
1/4 13.03
mph 105.62

These timeslips were 1 week apart, in very similar weather.
