true duals with stock manifolds?

is there any gain to be expected going to true duals with stock manifolds?

If there is a gain from going to any cat back exhaust with stock manifolds I would think there has to be going to true duals too. If you're going to all the trouble of running true duals though why not intall some headers too? Any header out there is a vast improvement over those stock boat anchor manifolds

I just went with a y-pipe 2.5 inch on my stock manifolds, gains prob 5 hp.. Freed up resistance from the stock 2.25.. But if I had to do it again, I would get headers w/ duals...

I agree... Do the headers also. It is just a little bit more money. However, you will find a much higher hp gain with better flow at the heads.

You can find some reletively inexspensive headers. Or, you could buy some used headers.

Good luck

I want to do this too, I cant buy a headers now.
Can I just do this and and install the pipes direct from the manifolds 2,5" and go just before the rear end.

The biggest gain will come from relieving the worst restriction. The worst restriction is in the exhaust headers, not the rest of the system.

If you can run duals for $250.00 then do it, and do some headers later when you get some cash, but keep your expectations low in terms of performance increase.

I wouldn't spend the money on an exhaust system until you have headers. You will probably have to alter your setup some when you do get headers and it'll be a PITA and cost some more money. I agree with tnthub - the biggest hp gain comes from headers. Even headers with the stock exhaust will be better than duals with stock manifolds.

I agree. I would do headers first. That's what I'm doing. I am installing my SLP shorties this weekend. After that, I'm going with true dual Dynomax Bullets with x pipe. Whoo!

Well, I finally got the headers in...and you REALLY need to get the headers first. I am very pleased. I was told that shorties would increase my low end and my top end wouldn't change very much, but that was the biggest lie I've ever heard, because my top end just keeps on pulling now. I feel like my buddies LS1. It's really worth the money. The exhaust setup will be next, so I definitely suggest doing the headers first.

You think those are good....you really should try some LT's.

I would've went longtubes but I found a great deal on these. They are SLP 1 3/4" and are coated by Jet-Hot. A little over $600 headers and I got em for $250. I couldn't pass that up. I'm VERY pleased. But rest assured, one day I'll upgrade to LT's.
