Angry trouble shooting car...AGAIN

alright well last week i installed pacesetter longtubes, ory, and tsp rumbler cat back. it ran great for about 10 miles and i really felt the increased power. since then the motor has developed a knock or a clanking sound once heated up. can this be a timing problem? it starts and idles fine, only once heated up or under load the sound occurs. i dont think its a bearing because it starts without the noise. it does not loose coolant and i cant hear any head gasket leaks, so what do you think? should i get new o2's and have it tuned or do you think i have a greater problem on my hands? any help would be great.

you can't hear head gasket leaks.

Clanks are never good, but could it be a tick? If you have an exhaust leak it will tick.

I wouldn't replace anything until you find out more.

How does the car run?

ticking may not be too bad, knocking and clanking might be bad... What have you already looked at?

I am thinking that something on your exhaust is clanking against the car...check it out for clearance.

no i dont think its the exhaust, it has a leak but thats not what im reffering to. could it be a colapsed lifter? i have an idea it could be that. ill look over the car again and see if i come up with anything.

To be honest, I'd check your emmisions fittings if your headers are so equipped. They may not be sealing correctly after the car heats up...

I think the exhaust leaks mostly close up after they heat up. So if it does it after it warms up it would be something else. If you found the location of the noise like under a valve cover you could remove the cover and verify it.

its not an exhaust leak. i just put the entire exhaust on the car and i know it is not leaking. the car is running horribly. this would not be caused by an exhaust leak.i think it is a lifter? anyone have this happen to them? how did it sound?

I just put pace setters on my car and had no problems but I have heard after headers are put on that it may be too noisy for the lt1 knock module... if u dont have one u may want to get the lt4 knock module. fixing to put one on my car.

the headers u put on did they have all the emissions hook ups or no? if they didnt did u make a egr cover plate and attach to back of motor? (could be easily forgotton i suppose)

i doubt it is hitting anything... i mean something hitting ur headers y-pipe since u said only does when hot. if it was all time the drive shaft may be worth looking at makeing sure it didnt hit y-pipe.

when installing headers did u do plug wires and plugs... if so or if not.. you may have busted one when installing the headers or the plugs..

im still learning and dont know much lol but hope that helps
