Trouble codes 84 and 83

From the last post, my car had an issue with a sudden loss of power for a split second, and then the "service engine" light coming on. Mark, a message board member stopped by thing morning and he scanned the pcm. Two codes appeared. 84 and 83. We took the car for a ride and all looked good. No codes appeared. I checked all fuses as mark suggested. Code 83 does have something to do with the reverse lockout I think. I have my reverse lockout currently disconnected, I still need to wire it in since I did my tranny swap. Would this be causing a code to appear? From what I understand, the reverse lockout does have something to do with the Ignition? If anyone would have any ideas what could cause these codes, please chime in. The car ran fine this morning and did not duplicate that "service engine" issue that I had yesterday.

83 Reverse inhibit system (manual transmission)

84 Skip shift solenoid circuit (manual transmission)

Neither of these should cause driveability problems, however the same fuse powers the O2 sensors. Be sure it is good (FANS/ACTR fuse).

I checked all fuses....all are good. I have a printout in an excel file of the entire run....everything shows all is fine. From browsing through the site, I feel I should maybe replace the pvc valve and maybe the coil wire???? They are original I think.........

If the reverse lockout isn't wired up, its going to set the code. The diagnostic is a continuity check on the circuit. If it is "open" or "shorted" you get the code. A resistor across the wires will eliminate the code. Same with the "skip shift".

Why would you replace a pcv valve and the coil, with codes 83 & 84?

Because I get a miss once in a while when driving 1800rpm or below. Even with the cam that I have in my car, the shifter should not be jerky under low rpm. My plug wires are 8.5mm taylors...and I am running them over the valve covers. Maybe replacing the pcv will smooth things a bit as I have read on this message board. Also, the coil wires wouldnt hurt.
