Trouble code coolant fan

So, recently I had a SES light pop up, pulled out my wires free scan, and noticed i had a engine code 26 and 77...

so i checked my fan fuse, it was blown.
replaced it, blown... as soon as i fired it up.

searched common problems, people say usually its wires ground out... so i check the fan harness, as much as i can, pulled back the shrouding, nothing out of the ordinary, one had a tiny nick in it, but not revealing the wire, just a bit of insulation missing.

so, couldnt find anything wrong with the wires, pulled the fan relays, the fan 1 2 and 3(not quite sure there are 3 fan relays when there are only 2 fans??)

checked with the voltmeter conductivity on the fan/plugs against the fuse... both fuse spots returned a response to the passenger side ground but nothing on the drive side ground... and key was not in to check power side... but interesting to note difference in plug grounds...

pulled all 3 left fans relays unplugged, started engine, no codes...
put the relays back in, started engine, no codes
put the passenger side fan plug back in, started engine, no codes...
put the drivers side fan back in, got 26, 77, and 83 faults... didnt blow fuse (but was using higher amp [25] fuse so maybe thats why it didnt blow?... didnt want to waste my only 15 amp on the first try)

cleared codes, unplugged fan, and no codes...

so i will probably leave it, until i get a response back from you guys on recommendations...

Using a bigger fuse is a sure way to burn up your wiring. You will end up with worse problems. There are fan schematics on my site you can use to troubleshoot.

Re: Trouble code coolant fan

thanks shbox... i think it was a bad relay(switched them all around, dont use fog lights, air pump, or a/c)... all the wires seem to be connected to the right spots... i was at least a little confused though.

when i connected D5 J5 or F2 (should be all BRN 541) all to fuse 6... one of the terminals on the fuse 6 would give me a resistance of 10, where as the other side would be more like .08 or so... your schematics dont really show how the fuse complete's the circuit... or maybe i'm just retarded.

and last night i was trying to figure out how it was wired with the "earlier model", because i saw the NOTE, about 96-97 constant power, and figured the later model did not include 95...

i put the 10amp back in there.

on a side note, can relays be tested to figure out which one might have been shorting the loop?

Re: Trouble code coolant fan

NewbieWar, please excuse me for this.

Shoebox, I would appreciate any comments you might have on my questions in either/both of these threads:

https://www.camaroz28.com/forums/com...nected-856657/

https://www.camaroz28.com/forums/com...toring-856655/

You are not permitting PMs, and my threads get moved to the Computer Tuning and Diagnostics section (a dead zone) when I post them here.

Thanks.
